Since 1996, West Linn Girls Lacrosse has been dedicated to growing girls lacrosse. As one of the founding programs, establishing girls lacrosse in Oregon, we are committed to teaching the skills, but more importantly, the values of the game.
GOGGLES ALERT: US LAX has put out an approved equipment list for safety equipment to be used in the 2020 season. This specifically affects girls eyewear. Below is an excerpt from the USL memo that went out:
Effective January 1, 2020 all eyewear must be SEI certified to the current ASTM F3077 standard and listed on the SEI website (SEI Link) to be legal for play for the 2020 season, for both youth and high school level play. All manufacturers must mark product produced on and after January 1, 2020 with the appropriate ASTM standard requirement and SEI mark (see below). At the High School level, eyewear worn on the field must be SEI certified and listed on the SEI site, however it does not have to have the SEI mark on it for the 2020 season. At the Youth level, the eyewear worn on the field must be SEI certified and listed on the SEI site and must have the SEI mark of certification for the 2020 season. For a list of products that meet the F3077 standard and are SEI certified go to SEInet.org/search.htm and use the pull-down menu for US Lacrosse and look under Eye Protection for Women’s Lacrosse.
Eyewear will be marked with or have a small tag with: "Certified Model ASTM F3077-17" Here's the link to the site that lists approved eyewear: https://www.seinet.org/search.htm#§ion=
If you have purchased new eyewear within the last year, they are likely on the approved list as most companies started selling approved and marked eyewear well before the Jan 1, 2020 deadline. That said, please DOUBLE CHECK YOUR GOGGLES, the umpires will be checking this year!
Final Reminder: Players and Parents Meeting
All: Just a final reminder that tomorrow night, Thursday, February 13th, we will be having our annual Players and Parents meeting. The session will take place at 6:30 PM in the Forum inside WLHS. If you come through the main doors, turn right and go straight until you hit the stairs, then pop right up to the 2nd floor and you can't miss it. We ask that at least one parent and the player attend the meeting!
We will be going over 2020 season roles and expectations as well as touch on tryouts and introduce you to our new staff members.
Finally, this is also a fantastic meeting to get new players integrated, so if you have a friend who is interested in trying out lacrosee (or on the fence), this is a wonderful opportunity to get them exposed! Please let me know if any questions!
DATE CHANGE: WL Girls Lax Parents Poker Night
DATE CHANGE TO SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 29th
Parents: Time to get rolling and get signed up for our 2020 West Linn Girls Poker Night on Saturday, February 29h! Whether your a parent of a freshman, JV or returning Varsity player, we hope you will consider joining us for this great night!
DONATIONS: The key to a great West Linn Girls Poker night is GREAT donations. We ask each girls lacrosse family to contribute one item towards the prize pool for Poker Night. These donations are what are handed out to the winners so we can keep the proceeds of the buy ins and any silent auctions and 50/50 raffles we do. We only ask once a year for donanted items, so please consider contributing! Maybe you have a weekend in Sunriver you can donate? Consider buying a nice bottle of wine or bottle of scotch to contribute. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to visit the places you do business with here in West Linn or Portland area, be it a restaraunt, nail salon, tire center...all it takes is the courage to ask! Most will donate something!
VOLUNTEERS: If able, we would like to have three parents help us with the coordination of donations, set up and overall operations of the evening. The Blanchard's have kindly offered up the "Taj Garage" for this great event and we like to make it light ework for them! If interested, please drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
